Once I link someone to CD Baby, am I credited for additional sales or just the single direct link?: You get paid for EVERY CD in the customer's shopping cart. Since many people leave CD Baby with 5-10 CDs in their order, that means a single click from your site could mean a $5-$10 commission.
Does it matter which website I link people from?: It doesn't matter. As long as the link has "/from/yourname" at the end, you get credit. The link could be in an email to your friends, or from any website in the world. Only the "/from/yourname" at the end of the URL matters.
After I linked to CD Baby, my "/from/yourname" disappeared from the web address!: It's only shown on the first hit, but remembered by our computer for 12 hours, so that the person can click your link, get distracted, even shut off their computer and come back later, and you'll still get paid for any sale that happens. You'll know it's working when the <title> bar of your web browser shows " - from yourname" at the end of the title.
If I send somebody to the CD Baby search engine, or home page, or gallery page - will it count?: Yep! Once they're in, from your link, you get credit for anything they buy that day.
Can I link people directly to search results, and get credit for that?: Yep! Just put your "/from/yourname" after "cdbaby.com/found" so that it looks like this example: http://cdbaby.com/found/from/yourname?artist=beatles
Is there an affiliate commission on signups too?: Not yet. Hopefully you'll tell musicians about CD Baby anyway, and get paid by linking to them when they're up-and-selling here.
